Getting Started Guide

Welcome to the MWC Editor. This guide will walk you through the safe process of editing your save files.

1. Locate & Backup

Before doing anything, you must create a backup copy of your save.

Why backup?

MWC is in development. Updates can break save files, and manual editing can sometimes cause issues. Always keep a copy of your savefile.txt and carpart.txt in a safe folder.

2. Load Files

On the My Winter Car editor home page, drag and drop both files into the upload zone.

  • You must provide savefile.txt (for money/player data).
  • You must provide carpart.txt (for vehicle data).

If the files are valid, you will be taken to the Health Report dashboard.

3. Choose Your Mode

The editor offers two ways to make changes:

A. The Wizards (Recommended)

Use the "Fix" buttons on the Health Dashboard to automatically resolve complex issues like:

  • Tightening all loose bolts on the Rivett.
  • Restoring player hydration/hunger.
  • Adding a reasonable amount of emergency cash.

B. Advanced Editor (Expert)

Manually edit specific values. Useful for fine-tuning engine wear or teleporting to specific coordinates.

4. Download & Install

  1. Click the Download Save button in the top right.
  2. This will generate new versions of your .txt files.
  3. Replace the original files in your game folder with these new ones.
  4. Launch My Winter Car and enjoy!
